PREHABITUATION
Establishing Good Habits Before Your Surgical Needs Improve Treatment Outcomes
Beginning exercise therapy at least six weeks prior to any surgery will help prep the body for any upcoming challenges.
With About Face, we can help prepare your mind and body for surgery through relaxation techniques and soothing movements.
Medical studies conducted out of Boston focused on knee and hip replacement patients who participated in pre-surgery workouts via strength training, aerobic and flexibility exercises. These participants reduced their chances of needing in-patient rehabilitation by an incredible 73 percent!

How We Do It
We combine Spa Treatments and Facial Exercise therapy (Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy & Face Yoga) to stretch, Strengthen and Relax the Facial Muscles.
WHAT IS OROFACIAL MYOFUNCTIONAL THERAPY?
Neuromuscular reeducation and exercises or functional movement patterns to develop balance, coordination, kinesthetic sense, posture, core stability, efficiency of muscle contraction, and improve motor recruitment patterns. This phase of rehabilitation is necessary to promote the patient’s independence, and maintain or improve the benefits of the therapy treatment.
Traditionally, Myofunctional Therapy uses a combination of personal training exercises to improve the bite, breathing, and facial posture of those with orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs). The training targets the face, neck, and mouth's soft tissues to reach optimal tongue position and oral rest posture.
With About Face, facial muscular testing allows for targeted and effective personal training exercises to promote better health with goals to reduce pain, and enhance the quality of life.
A myofunctional therapy program is used to help correct the improper function of the tongue and facial muscles. It involves strengthening the tongue and orofacial muscles by teaching individuals how to engage the muscles in the appropriate position.
